Ms. Cowart’s practice is
devoted to the representation of employers across the country in all
phases of employment discrimination litigation before state and
federal courts; agencies involving race, gender, disability and
national origin discrimination; and all types of harassment claims.
Ms. Cowart counsels employers with respect to personnel issues,
including prevention of harassment, employee discipline and
termination, preparation of employment contracts, personnel policies
and handbooks. Ms. Cowart regularly lectures on employment issues
before corporate counsel and human resources professionals. As a
result of her litigation experience in these matters, Ms. Cowart’s
practice has expanded to counseling clients in other litigation
matters, general tort and commercial matters.
As part of her practice, Ms. Cowart performs audits for employers of
companies’ policies and practices. Her audit experience includes
reviewing all facets of a client’s record retention practices and
administration of human resources in order to recommend strategies
for improvement, as well as training on proper practices for
supervisors and employees. She is experienced in litigating,
arbitrating and mediating employee claims. She has experience
representing public and private sector employers. In addition, she
has experience representing government contractors including
preparing affirmative action plans and defending contractors audited
by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP).
Ms.
Cowart graduated from the University of Virginia (B.A. Economics)
and the University of Georgia School of Law (J.D. degree). She was
a member of the National Moot Court team and received numerous
oration awards. She is admitted to practice before the courts of
Georgia. |
